Epson Pretreatment

Epson DG Cotton Pretreatment is designed to work with fabrics that have a high cotton fibre content (garments with 50% cotton or more). If you are working with fabric that contains 50% polyester or more, we recommend Epson DG Polyester Pretreatment instead.

So, what’s different about the V2 (version 2) formula? In short, it addresses two key issues that users raised with the original V1 formula - it aims to reduce staining as a result of over application and reduce yellowing on printed images over time (the UV effect).

Pretreatment can be applied manually through the use of a spray gun or roller, otherwise you can use an electronic system (such as the Cube). For best results, Epson recommends using a spray-based machine.

Although this pretreat has been designed specifically for use with Epson DG UltraChrome inks, it has also been tested and used successfully with DTGTex Dupont Artistry inks. No matter the ink set you are using, we recommend testing prior to running any production.

Oeko-Tex rating

When applied and fixed to cotton fabric using this pretreat, ink passes the requirements of Oeko-Tex Standard 100 for human ecological requirements of Class 1 products for adults, children and babies up to 36 months.

Less staining & yellowing

Over application of pretreat has been known to cause staining, whilst exposure to UV rays has been known to cause the print to yellow over time. The great thing about the V2 pretreat is that both these issues are reduced.

Use with a variety of fabrics

As well as cotton, this pretreat also works with alternative natural, man-made and mixed fibre fabrics (but it should be noted that results will vary). Users are strongly recommended to perform print and wash durability tests.

Optimum adhesion

This pretreat has been designed to optimise adhesion of Epson DG UltraChrome inks to garments made from natural fibres. This avoids patchiness in the print and results in far better looking garments.
