Direct to Film (DTF)

Machines Plus is very excited to introduce Direct to Film (DTF) by Ecofreen, an alternative printing process to DTG. You print onto a film transfer that is then dried, after which a powdered glue is applied to the back and the whole thing is heat cured. The resulting transfers can either be used immediately or stored for later use.


DTF combines the best of DTG, heat transfer and screenprinting, allowing you to broaden the spectrum of products and services you offer without the need to purchase additional machines - in most cases, it’ll work with the equipment you already have on hand. And you’ll receive direct to garment quality each time.


Plus, it allows you to print on areas that aren’t as easily accessible with your DTG printer, such as sleeves and pockets. And you’ll be able to print on almost every type of fabric, including 100% polyester, with great quality results.


Ecofreen’s products are unique in that they have been designed specifically for use with Epson inks and DTG printers, like the SureColor F2000 and F2160. We supply Ecofreen powders, films and (as soon as they’re launched) DTF applicators.

Save time and streamline your operations - not to mention save your precious pretreatment - as transfer films don't need to be pretreated. It also uses a minimum of 75% less DTG ink without compromising on results.

Good washability

Once the prints have been transferred onto your garment or fabric, you’ll find that they have good wash characteristics and will continue to look their best wash after wash. There will be no worry about the prints fading or peeling.

Smooth to the touch

After transferring, you’ll find that the fabric has a very slight hand feel touch, similar to that of many heat transfer vinyls. The prints themselves are embedded into the fabric, giving them a strong grip that will prevent peeling or curling edges.

    Safety Precautions

    • DO NOT apply hot melt powders on the printer platen, application MUST occur away from the printer (we recommend at least 5 metres). If the printer was to ‘breathe’ in the powder via its intake fan, there is a risk damage could occur (and this will not be covered under your warranty).
    • Fumes from the powder could cause an allergic reaction (due to irritation of the throat, lungs and/or eyes). Always work in a well-ventilated area and wear personal protective equipment (ie an N95 mask, safety goggles and gloves).
    • Low humidity and stable temperatures are required for the powder and films to work at their optimum.
